A Message from the Principal

Setting high goals for all students as well as acknowledging and accepting the fact that each student has their own individual dreams and goals best describes my educational philosophy. At its heart, the purpose of education is to give every student a fair chance to succeed in life. Having students engage in deep questioning and encouraging them to think critically about their future and all the possibilities including becoming informed community members, being continuously curious about the world they live in, and making informed decisions, is the true and pure purpose of education.

Field trip to Ridgewood Reservoir at Highland Park

Seventh grade learned about NYC’s reservoir system. They had hands-on experience about how aqueducts work. They were able to act as engineers and make their own aqueducts in teams and then attach them all together. We explored the park, learned about trees and had fun with some races.

We met Congresswoman Sandy Nurse who was inspired by our scholars abilities!

We also watched NYCH20 workers clean up invasive stalks growing in the water. Students talked about how awesome a real life career in a park like this would be in their own futures.
